This is me in my senior III studio at the University of Houston in 2011. I was working late night and my friend David Salinas came by to take some photos of me painting. A lot of things has changed since then. I've already lost count of the wins and losses. Just recently, I turned thirty-three. Along with the celebrations came a whirlwind of emotions. Mostly, it was from sleepless nights during the hurricane with the endless flash flood and tornado warnings in my area. Although, I was doing several freelance jobs here and there, I decided it was also time to move on and resign from the job I've had for ten years. Now, I have the time to completely devote myself to my work and side hustles. It's a scary thought but I've always believed in trusting the process: working hard plus working smart, be humble, be genuine will bring results.
I'm still in this weird, surreal state of trying to find normalcy. Maybe it will never come. Maybe it will. Only time will tell but I'll get to something stable soon. Now, I will have more time to catch up with everyone, have coffee, collaborate, make work, see more art, enjoy my family. Hit me up! |
